Jennifer Irvine is an educator and registered nurse, with 30 years experience in the acute health and nursing education sectors. Jennifer initially completed a hospital based Certificate in General Nursing, and later consolidated her nursing studies at RMIT University, gaining a Bachelor of Nursing . Her clinical roles have included working as a Clinical Nurse Specialist and Associate Unit Manager in oncology, haematology, palliative care, and residential aged care.
Over the last ten years, Jennifer has utlised her clinical skills and love of teaching, primarily working as a Clinical Nurse Educator with students completing their Bachelor of Nursing and Certificate IV in Nursing. She is an experienced Clinical Coordinator, classroom teacher and resource development officer for the Certificate IV/Diploma of Nursing.
After completing a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment in 2007, Jennifer consolidated her qualifications in vocational training, gaining a Diploma of VET Practice. She is about to commence working towards a Masters in Nursing.
Through her consultancy, Jennifer managed a project for the Community Services and Health Industry Training Board in Victoria. The project was funded by the Department of Health Victoria, to develop two clinical handbooks. The first assists students in navigating the clinical practice experience and the second guides clinical facilitators in coordinating clinical placements. In 2010, Jenny also contributed to the development of a competency assessment tool designed to evaluate clinical performance of Diploma of nursing students in Victoria.
